Phase 1 Training - Week 3

Sunday 1st Febraury 2015

Spent most of the day relaxing in the warm California Sun, 74F today and sunny.  Enjoying some time off before the next trip tomorrow.  Superbowl is on TV later and will probably watch the game.

Monday 2nd Febraury 2015

Once again of to El Paso at 5am, a fairly mundane start to what was going to be a hectic week.  On the way back from El Paso we got a call to swap trailers at Tonopah, AZ with another driver and take it to El Paso.  The swap was made at the TA truck stop in Tonopah and we reached El Paso around midnight on the 3rd February.

Thursday 5th Febraury 2015

From El Paso we proceeded to Rio Rancho just north of Albuquerque NM to pick up a trailer of cotton swabs and take them back to Riverside CA, arriving back at around 5pm and our next load was for 5am the next morning to Las Cruces NM.

Friday 6th Febraury 2015

From Las Cruces we went back to Casa Grande and picked up a load bound for Prescott AZ, Bullhead City AZ and Lake Havasu City AZ.  This was a very different journey as I was driving up and down mountains and rolling hills most of the way.  Saw some very stunning scenery and also some interesting native American sites.

Largest Teepee in Southwest USA at Lupton AZ.

  Saturday 7th Febraury 2015

Once again a 5am departure to Las Cruces NM and after 2 drops here we headed to Arlington AZ and Hickman's Egg Ranch.  we arrived at 8am and our load wasn't ready untill 11am so we had to sit and wait.  The smell was awful from the chicken sheds and most of the labor is provided by local prison inmates.  We left around noon and got back to Colton around 5pm on Sunday with very little time left on the driving clock.  This was my last trip with Victor as I had now been cleared for Upgrade to Phase 2 training.
