OTR - June 2015

Monday 1st June 2015

After a short hotel stop we got to the JSC in Houston around 10am and were greeted by these near the gate.

The tours around JSC are very well organized and we spent about 5 hours there, here are some of the highlights.

The giant Saturn V rocket

Space Station simulator

Some of the new toys for the future Mars missions

A Shuttle cockpit
A great day out and worth the visit (and $25). From here we headed to Galveston for dinner and then to the beach on Bolivar Peninsula.

Then it was home for a relaxing week off.

Monday 8th June 2015

After a great week at home it was back to work, and my first task was to recover a truck at the school in Cedar Hill, TX (my learning place).

We set off for there and after securing the truck it was off for dinner, via The See's Candy shop in Dallas.  I spent the night in the truck as my load wasn't until 1pm the next day in Stephenville, TX.

Tuesday 9th June 2015

Only a short hop with this to Laredo, and all went well until I got to the Walmart DC at 5am Wednesday morning, it had moved but they had not told anyone.  So after a couple of phone calls it was off to the correct address and that was it delivery done.

Wednesday 10h June 2015

Headed back to the Laredo yard and waited for my next load, which came around 4pm.  Laredo to Salt Lake City.  Now the fun began.  First they gave me a dock that was impossible to back in to, then I managed to lock myself out of the truck.  A recovery driver came and managed to open the door for me.  By this time I only had enough hours left to make it to the nearest truck stop for the night.

Saturday 13th June 2015

After completing my drop in Salt Lake City I headed for the yard and had a sleep.  My next load was bound for Clackamas, OR and a drop in a Con-Way yard.

Sunday 14th June 2015

After a major search for my trailer I left SLC and headed towards Idaho, stopping for my break and fuel stop in Heyburn, ID.
A large glass of vino for my wine loving friends

Idaho was mainly flat farmland, but as I got towards Oregon the scenery became stunning.

I followed the river for quite a few hours

Tuesday 16th June 2015

I dropped my load in Clackamas, OR and headed back to Troutdale, OR to wait for my next load,  which came almost straight away. It was a run from Albany, OR to Clarksville, AR with frozen peas and carrots.

Wednesday 17th June 2015

I got loaded in Albany around 10am and headed East towards Arkansas and my drop at Walmart in Clarksville.   I took the scenic route through the picturesque forest and mountains of Oregon.

After such scenes it was back to the flat grasslands once again.
The rest of the journey was pretty mundane and I arrived in Arkansas on the 21st and my next job was waiting, a pick up on the 22nd bound for Laredo.  From Laredo I headed North once again to Salt Lake City, where I parted company with the relief truck and caught a ride with Ted towards Mississippi.

Form here we ran from Tennessee with a load bound for Laredo, but I left Ted's company in Houston and picked up another relief truck there.
